| MUDKIP BiologyPhysiologyMudkip is a small, blue, amphibious Pokémon with a large head, wide mouth, black, beady eyes and an orange, star-shaped external gills on its cheeks. It also has a fin on the top of its head and a light-blue fin for a tail. It moves around on all four legs, and has a light-blue underside. Gender differencesNone. Special abilitiesMudkip can use the fin on its head to detect subtle changes in air and water currents, and can detect nearby bodies of water. In this way, it can also detect danger. Like most Water-type Pokémon, Mudkip can shoot water from its mouth. When in the water, Mudkip breathes using the gills on its cheeks. On land, it can powerfully lift large boulders by planting its four feet and heaving. If it is faced with a tight situation in battle, Mudkip will become strong enough to crush rocks bigger than itself. BehaviorMudkip is more mellow than its evolutions, but is protective of its kind and because of its powerful strength it groups up in numbers and easily overpower its foes. Mudkip has been known to be playful, especially in mud, as well. It sleeps by burying itself in soil at the water's edge. Its large tail fin propels it through water with powerful acceleration. HabitatMudkip and members of its evolution family dwell in swamps or other wetlands, deep inside isolated islands. Soon after birth on beautiful beaches, it swims to swamps deep within islands. Diet
